The
Postcard Project
The Postcard Project was an art
project developed and facillitated by Philippa with participants
at Workbase.
Workbase
is a charity in Kendal intended to help those who are recovering
from mental illness find their way back into employment.
In exploring the question "Can
you imagine (how I feel)?" participants used a variety
of media to produce and send postcards.
This project allowed participants to explore and communicate
their feelings and thoughts in relation to themselves and
mental illness. Over the course of the project, participants
made over 600 postcards.
The postcards were exhibited in Kendal for World Mental Health
Day in October 2009, and at the Looking Well, Bentham, in
2010.
When exhibited the cards take
the viewer on a hugely varied and important journey through
the honest and uncensored words and images of the makers.
Pioneer
Project
Since 2007, Philippa has worked
on a freelance basis to facilitate workshops as part of Pioneer
Project at the Looking Well Community Health Project
in Bentham.
Currently Philippa is facillitating
and delivering workshops for people experiencing memory loss
and their carers. This project entitled "OWN NOW"
sees participants producing visual material in a range of
media.
The project started as a six week pilot in Spring 2010 with
a group of people living with dementia. The success of this
pilot has resulted in two further six week projects including
new and existing participants. A further six week series will
start in September 2010.
Material from the group was showcased
at an event of Ripon and Harrogate Region Alzheimers Society
in July 2010.
Granary

Philippa will be running a series
of drypoint workshops at Skipton Castle commencing Autumn
2010 and Spring 2011. These are open to the public. Further
details about course content and booking information can be
found at Granary
