Philippa Troutman works as an artist and a printmaker.

Since the mid-eighties she has worked as a practising artist, alongside an extensive professional career in social care.

Between 1988-1989 she completed her Arts Foundation course in Rochdale.

In 1998 she was awarded an MA in Printmaking by Bradford University.

Philippa has undertaken more than thirty solo and group exhibitions, including the highly acclaimed touring exhibition "The Shanties."

Since 2005 Philippa has been designing and delivering workshops. These have taken place in school, community and health settings.

Of her work, Philippa says:

"I work as an artist and a printmaker.
I draw and paint, make drypoints, etchings and monoprints.

The metals, the ink, the cuts and bites of the etching and drypoint processes, all suit the railway, the weather, the moorland and the limestone which surround my home.

The social history and the landscape of this environment have been my main visual concerns in recent years.

I make marks and pare away, again and again.

I seek to record and discard until I find a place of just holding."
